Pastoral Care

At Shire Christian School your child will learn and play in a caring, supportive environment where they can grow in knowledge, understanding and character.

Our guiding principles in Junior School Pastoral Care are:

  • being Safe,
  • being ready to Learn, and
  • showing Respect to one another.

Our teachers apply these principles to build a learning community where students feel they belong in a safe and respectful environment that is conducive to learning.

From a very young age children need to learn how to relate to others positively. The school develops each child’s commitment to listening to others, taking turns, sharing and forgiving those who wrong us.

At Shire Christian we believe in teaching, reinforcing and encouraging Christian character and values. Each week a different Christian value is taught and modelled.

Jesus came to show us how to serve, how to love and care for people and how to make sacrifices for the good of others.

It is these Christian values that we need to teach and model to our children, as found in Luke 10:27 where Jesus says: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and Love your neighbour as yourself. Our Rainbow Reminders reflect this teaching.

Each year the school develops a theme or focus as a way of engaging everyone in the school community to continually refine and improve practice.

In 2021 the focus was Christian education and pastoral care.
