Frequently Asked Questions
These frequently asked questions are designed to help you as you explore whether our community is the right fit for your family.
Our most recent parent survey showed very strong satisfaction across key areas of school life.
- 98% of parents reported that their expectations of Christian education were met or exceeded.
- Over 90% of parents said that our facilities and co‑curricular opportunities meet or exceed their expectations.
These results reflect our commitment to strong relationships, quality teaching and a nurturing Christian community where children belong.
Shire Christian School is encouraged each year by strong academic outcomes, including students achieving at the highest levels in the HSC. In recent years, some students have placed first in the state in individual subjects and achieved ATARs in the high 90s.
While we celebrate these achievements, our greatest satisfaction is seeing every student grow in confidence, capability and character, maximising their learning and post‑school pathways.
We experience very high demand for Year 7 enrolments. While we would love every family who applies to be able to join our community, places at this entry point are limited.
The early years are vital to a child’s development, and many families choose to begin their Shire Christian journey from Kindergarten. Students in our Junior School progress into Year 7 without the need for re‑enrolment, providing continuity of learning, relationships and pastoral care.
Some students choose to leave school after Year 10 to pursue apprenticeships or other pathways. As a result, positions may become available for entry into Year 11 and the commencement of the HSC course. Families interested in Year 11 enrolment are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
Yes. Our Prep program provides an excellent transition into Junior School. While Prep students are given priority enrolment into Kindergarten, we also welcome an additional intake of at least 18 students each year. Families are encouraged to apply as early as possible, as Kindergarten places are limited.
Occasionally, places become available in non‑intake years when families relocate, students commence apprenticeships or pursue other pathways.
Families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. This allows us to contact you when a suitable position becomes available.
A number of factors are considered when working through the waitlist, including:
- length of time on the list
- active Christian families
- siblings of current students
- alumni connections
- gender balance and the needs of the cohort
Because the waitlist is dynamic, we are unable to provide families with a specific position. Experience has shown that families who miss out in the first round may still receive an offer as places become available. For this reason, we encourage families to apply for enrolment as early as possible.

Families enrolling at Shire Christian School are asked to support our Christian educational approach and understand that teaching and learning are shaped by a biblical worldview. Many parents choose our school because they value the Christian care, values and learning culture that characterise our community.
There are several ways students travel to and from school, including:
- bus services
- train and bus connections

- bike or scooter
The best way to experience Shire Christian School is by attending one of our group tours.

- meet members of our school leadership
- learn more about our approach to Christian education
Families are encouraged to bring their children along. If you require a personal tour, our Registrar is happy to assist. Please submit an enquiry.
